Kings 8, Oilers 2: Marian Gaborik recorded two goals and an assist while Jeff Carter also scored twice as Los Angeles extended its home winning streak against Edmonton to six games.

Defensemen Drew Doughty and Robyn Regehr, captain Dustin Brown and Jordan Nolan also tallied for the Kings, who moved past Winnipeg for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Justin Williams and Anze Kopitar each notched two assists while Jonathan Quick made 28 saves as Los Angeles also pulled within one point of Calgary for third place in the Pacific Division.

Former King Teddy Purcell and Jordan Eberle scored for the Oilers, who were trounced for the second time in two nights after going 5-1-2 in their previous eight contests. Ben Scrivens allowed five goals on 21 shots over two periods before giving way to Tyler Bunz, who turned aside nine shots in his NHL debut.

Brown got things started 2:23 into the contest with a shot from the bottom of the left faceoff circle and Gaborik doubled the lead at 7:07 by converting a cross-slot pass from Kopitar. Doughty made it 3-0 only 2:06 later and Nolan answered Purcell's tally by jamming the puck past Scrivens at the right post with 7:46 left in the second period.

Carter cashed in during a man advantage with 1:22 remaining in the session to make it 5-1 before Regehr and Gaborik scored 22 seconds apart early in the third to turn it into a rout. Carter backhanded his own rebound out of mid-air and past Bunz at 9:21 to cap his fifth two-goal performance of the season, helping Darryl Sutter improve to 11-0-3 versus Edmonton as coach of the Kings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gaborik's two-goal effort was his fourth of the campaign as the Kings scored their highest amount of goals since April 1, 2010. ... Los Angeles, which has outscored the Oilers 24-5 during its home winning streak in the series, welcomed back C Jarret Stoll. The veteran, who hadn't played since March 12 due to a head injury, notched an assist in his return. ... Prior to the game, Los Angeles agreed to terms with RW Tanner Pearson on a two-year contract extension while Edmonton did the same with C Anton Lander.
