Bruins 3, Devils 0: Milan Lucic scored twice to snap his nine-game goalless drought and Niklas Svedberg hardly was tested en route to his second career shutout as host Boston blanked New Jersey.

Carl Soderberg added an unassisted tally for the Bruins, who outshot the Devils by a 43-14 margin - including 18-3 in the first period. Patrice Bergeron and Chris Kelly each notched an assist while playing in their 700th career contest as Boston won its second in a row and improved to 3-0-3 in its last six.

Despite posting a 3-2 overtime victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday, the Bruins looked like the team that was rested by taking the fight to New Jersey in the opening period. Boston finally solved Cory Schneider during a power play with 1:10 remaining as Lucic skated along the outer edge of the right faceoff circle before sending his hard wrist shot past the goaltender, who was screened by Bruins captain Zdeno Chara.

The Bruins continued to stifle the Devils before Soderberg skated from the right circle to the slot and wristed a shot over the glove of Schneider 8:31 into the second to double the lead. Lucic sealed the win by scoring into an empty net with 12 seconds remaining.

Making his first start since Dec. 27, the 25-year-old Svedberg preserved his second shutout of the season by turning aside seven shots in the third. Schneider finished with 40 saves for New Jersey, which was thwarted in its bid to win three in a row for the first time since claiming its first three contests of the season.
