Kyle Palmieri and Mathieu Perreault also scored for the Pacific Division-champion Ducks, who host Game 2 on Friday. Veteran Teemu Selanne notched an assist as he appears in his final postseason and Frederik Andersen turned aside 32 shots in his playoff debut.
Colton Sceviour netted a goal and set up another for the Stars, who took two of three from the Ducks during the regular season. Captain Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin also tallied while Kari Lehtonen made 31 saves.
Anaheim took control early as Palmieri slid a backhander between Lehtonen's pads from alone in front 1:53 into the contest after receiving a perfect saucer pass from Nick Bonino. Getzlaf doubled the lead at 12:49 by scooping in a rebound and Perreault made it 3-0 with 30 seconds remaining in the opening period, converting a cross-slot feed from Patrick Maroon during a power play.
The Ducks cashed in on another man-advantage opportunity nine minutes into the second as defenseman Francois Beauchemin's shot from the left point deflected off Beleskey's leg and in for a goal that proved crucial. Benn tallied during a power play with 3:24 left in the session and Sceviour beat Andersen between the pads with a shot from the right faceoff circle 93 seconds later to halve the deficit before Seguin redirected defenseman Trevor Daley's pass with 6:07 to play in the third.
