Oilers 4, Penguins 3 (OT): Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his second power-play goal of the night 61 seconds into overtime as host Edmonton overcame a two-goal deficit to upend Pittsburgh.
The Oilers made the Penguins pay after Craig Adams failed to clear the puck as Jordan Eberle made a cross-slot pass to Nugent-Hopkins, who blasted a shot past Jeff Zatkoff (27 saves) from the doorstep to end the contest.
Nugent-Hopkins also assisted on Taylor Hall's tally and defenseman Anton Belov netted his first career goal with 1:59 remaining in the third period to forge a 3-3 tie. Devan Dubnyk finished with 25 saves for Edmonton, which posted its second win in seven outings (2-3-2).
Captain Sidney Crosby recorded his first career goal against the Oilers to extend his point streak to seven games before setting up defenseman Kris Letang for a power-play tally. James Neal scored his seventh goal in seven contests for the Penguins, who are 5-0-2 in their last seven meetings with Edmonton.
With Nugent-Hopkins serving a holding penalty, Pittsburgh converted two seconds into the ensuing power play. Crosby cleanly won a faceoff and Letang skated across the bridge of the left circle before wiring a shot inside the left post with 7:44 remaining in the third to give Pittsburgh a 3-2 lead. Belov answered as his shot from along the blue line beat a screened Zatkoff.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Crosby's first career goal against Edmonton was hardly aesthetically pleasing as his attempted feed to LW Chris Kunitz caromed off the stick of Edmonton's Sam Gagner and into the net for his team-leading 25th tally. Crosby has scored against every NHL team except Chicago, San Jose and St. Louis in his career. ... Neal has collected three goals and three assists during his four-game point streak. ... Gagner played at right wing with C Nugent-Hopkins and LW Hall on the team's top line.
