Flyers 2, Islanders 1: Defenseman Oliver Lauridsen scored with 6:31 to play and host Philadelphia snapped New York's 11-game point streak.
Danny Briere netted a power-play goal and Ilya Bryzgalov made 21 saves as the Flyers won for the fifth time in six games and derailed the Islanders' bid to overtake Toronto for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
John Tavares scored the lone goal for New York, which is even in points with Ottawa and the New York Rangers but sits in eighth place in the East. Kevin Poulin, making his fourth start of the season, turned aside 28 shots.
Briere snapped a 19-game goalless drought at 11:41 of the opening period, accepting a feed from Brayden Schenn and flicking a shot into an open net. Tavares knotted the contest 97 seconds into the second with a tip-in for his 28th goal.
Lauridsen, who was credited with his first career goal when Boston's Zdeno Chara shot a puck into his own net in Tuesday's win over Boston, made this one more memorable as he beat Poulin with a blast from above the left faceoff circle.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Tavares' goal was his 10th in his last 16 games. ... Briere, who played what could be his final home game for the Flyers, had not scored since netting a pair of goals against the Islanders on Feb. 18. ... Bryzgalov won for the second time in six starts and improved to 4-0-2 in his last six versus the Islanders.
