All-Star Brian Elliott made 21 saves to snap a personal three-game losing streak and pick up his 21st win.
St. Louis excelled on special teams to take the first game of a home-and-home series with Columbus. The Blues went 2-for-6 with the man advantage and held the Blue Jackets off the scoresheet on all four of their power play attempts. St. Louis has killed off 39 straight power plays over the last 13 games.
With the game tied at 1-1, Stewart broke in on the left wing and lifted a backhand over Curtis Sanford for his 15th goal.
T.J. Oshie padded the lead just over five minutes later when his one-timer sailed past Sanford. The marker was St. Louis' 2,700th power-play goal in franchise history.
Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo scored his 11th goal at 7:11 of the third period on the power play to make it 4-1 for the Blues and put the game out of reach. David Perron also tallied for St. Louis in the first period.
Cam Atkinson scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who had their season-high four-game winning streak snapped.
The Blues have an NHL-best 62 points at home (29-4-4).
