Jaden McDaniels came off the bench to score 20 points, including a key late 3-pointer, as Washington upset Arizona 69-63 on Saturday night in Tucson, Ariz.
The Huskies (15-16, 5-13 Pac-12) held on after a dominating defensive first half and swept their Arizona road trip despite being the last-place team in the conference. Arizona (20-11, 10-8) has lost four of its past five games.
McDaniels also had six rebounds and three blocked shots. Isaiah Stewart scored 16 for Washington. Jamal Bey and McDaniels drained 3-pointers on consecutive possessions after Arizona cut the lead to 59-55 with 3:55 to go.
Dylan Smith made six 3-pointers in the second half and led the Wildcats with 19 points. Zeke Nnaji had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
These teams will meet again Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas, with Arizona as the fifth seed and Washington the 12th. The teams split the two-game series in the regular season, with Arizona winning 75-72 win in Seattle.
Smith hit a trio of 3-pointers in the first 2:03 of the second half, helping cut a 15-point halftime deficit to 42-32.
Another Smith trey made it 55-51 before a key sequence in which Arizona's Christian Koloko picked up a foul and technical foul with 4:49 to go. Washington converted all four free throw attempts for a 59-51 edge.
The Huskies led 17-10 at the midway point of the first half and used their long, active zone to push the lead to 33-17 with 3:24 to go. Arizona answered with a 6-0 run -- all on free throws -- but Washington scored the final five points of the half to take a 38-23 lead into the break.
Washington held Arizona to 20 percent shooting (5 of 25) in the half and forced 10 turnovers.
Two Arizona seniors did not play in their final home game. Max Hazzard was out for the second game in a row -- and third in fourth games -- due to personal reasons, according to the school. Chase Jeter served the second and final game of a suspension for a violation of team rules.
