Center Jon Teske had 16 points and seven rebounds and Michigan pulled away from Elon in the second half to earn a 70-50 victory in a non-conference game at Ann Arbor, Mich., on Friday.

Point guard Zavier Simpson had 11 points and seven assists for the Wolverines (3-0). David Dejulius supplied 10 points and eight rebounds. Eli Brooks also scored 10 points and Isaiah Livers added nine.

The Wolverines shot 48.3 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from long range.

Marcus Sheffield scored 22 points for Elon (2-2). Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh was held to six points on 2-of-13 shooting.

The Phoenix were limited to 33.9 percent shooting overall and 23.1 percent from beyond the arc. They were outscored 34-16 in the paint and got out-rebounded 38-31.

Michigan got off to a sluggish start, scoring just seven points and shooting 3-of-12 from the field in the first 10 minutes. The Wolverines then went on an 11-0 run, including three-point plays by Teske and Brandon Johns Jr., to gain an 18-11 lead.

Sheffield's 3-pointer with under three minutes left in the half cut Michigan's lead to four. The Wolverines then scored the last five points, including a pair of Teske free throws, to gain a 31-22 halftime lead.

The Wolverines quickly pushed the advantage to double digits in the early stages of the second half. A wide-open trey by Simpson began an 11-2 run. Teske converted back-to-back layups to make it 45-28.

Sheffield hit a layup and a 3-pointer to cut Michigan's lead to 11 at 51-40. The Phoenix couldn't get the deficit under double digits. When Dejulius scored in the paint with 6:26 left, the Wolverines were up 63-44.

Teske gave Michigan a 20-point advantage on a three-point play with 3:03 remaining.
