Ray Turner had 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds to lead Texas A&M past Arkansas Tech 76-58 on Thursday night at Reed Arena.

It was the second career double-double for Turner, who finished 7-of-9 from the field.

Elston Turner added a game-high 19 points for the Aggies (9-3), who snapped a two-game slide in their final non-conference game before opening Big 12 play on Jan. 2 at Baylor.

Johnie Davis scored 16 points to lead Arkansas Tech (8-2), which entered the game ranked No. 17 in the latest NCAA Division II poll. The Wonder Boys were outrebounded 45-22 and shot only 34.5 percent from the field, including 7-of-19 from 3-point range.

Texas A&M limited Arkansas Tech to only two field goals over the final 10:57 of the first half to take a 32-20 lead into the break.

In the second half, Jordan Green’s jumper capped an 11-2 run that stretched the Aggies’ lead to 62-38 with 7:54 remaining.

Texas A&M, which topped 70 points for the first time since the second game of the season, was coming off its first loss to a non-conference opponent at Reed Arena since the 2005-06 season.
