Nick Fruendt scored 21 points off the bench and host Northwestern had little trouble remaining undefeated with a 92-67 rout of visiting Mississippi Valley State 92-67 on Friday.
The Wildcats (7-0) overwhelmed the Delta Devils (1-7) from 3-point range, hitting a season-high 20 shots from beyond the arc as eight different players made a 3-point shot. Northwestern hit eight 3-pointers in the first 13 minutes en route to building a 59-21 halftime advantage.
The Delta Devils were within 7-4 three minutes in, but John Shurma sank a 3-pointer that sparked a 16-2 Northwestern run. Drew Crawford’s jumper with 12:05 capped the run and gave the Wildcats a 23-6 lead.
Reggie Hearn scored 15 points with three 3-pointers, Drew Crawford finished with 14 points (four 3-pointers) and Fruendt also made four from beyond the arc.
Paul Crosby led Mississippi Valley State with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
