Matt Gatens scored 22 points and Bryce Cartwright added 19, leading Iowa to a 77-58 win over Louisiana Tech Tuesday night.
Iowa led 35-34 at halftime and steadily built the lead throughout the second half.
Gatens hit 5-of-9 3 pointers and missed only one free throw in eight attempts. Eric May and Jarryd Coles scored 10 points apiece for the winners.
Olu Ashaolu led Louisiana Tech (9-5) with 18 points. Brandon Gibson scored 13 while DeAndre Brown added 11.
The Bulldogs held a lead late in the first half but couldn't stay in the game, getting outscored 42-24 in the second half. Iowa led by as many as 20.
Iowa made 25-of-57 from the field and hit 9-of-22 3-pointers. Louisiana Tech had a tough shooting night, making only 21-of-57 shots and committing 17 turnovers. The Hawkeyes held the advantage at the foul line, making 18-of-23 while the Bulldogs went to the line only 14 times, making 11.
The host Hawkeyes (7-5) have won four of their last five games.
