TORONTO -- The Toronto Raptors played their game Monday night. The Milwaukee Bucks did not.

The Raptors were in control most of the way, shrugged off a third-quarter surge from the Bucks and pulled away in the fourth quarter to earn a 122-100 victory.

DeMar DeRozan scored 30 points and was 15 of 15 from the free-throw line, and Terrence Ross added 25 points off the bench for the Raptors. Toronto (17-7) won its third in a row and prevailed for the ninth time in 10 games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Bucks (11-12), who have lost three in a row and four of their past five.

The Raptors, who won for the 12th time in the past 13 meetings with the Bucks, led by as many as 26 points in the first half. The margin was trimmed to eight late in the third quarter before Toronto took a 10-point edge into the fourth.

With Ross scoring 11 points in the first six minutes of the fourth, the Raptors rebuilt their advantage to 23 points with 5:33 to play.

"We had to pick up our intensity again," Ross said. "They made their push, they made their run just like everybody else would do. We had to come back and make (stops), and I think the second unit helped do that."

Kyle Lowry added 18 points and seven assists for Toronto, DeMarre Carroll scored 13 points, and Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

"(The Raptors) were in character the whole night from the start; we weren't," Bucks coach Jason Kidd said. "Our defense was non-existent. The thing is we came out of that third quarter and got it down to 10. Their leaders took over the game.

"Ross was already going off, DeRozan was doing what he does best, and Lowry was doing what he does best. For us, we had no answers defensively. They got into stride in the first half. They got eight threes, and they were all uncontested. It was everything. We didn't show."

Jabari Parker added 27 points for Milwaukee, Greg Monroe contributed 11 off the bench, and Matthew Dellavedova had two points and 10 assists.

"(Kidd) was right, we didn't show up tonight, we didn't do as a team what we're supposed to do," Antetokounmpo said. "We have tough games coming up, so we have to take as much positive as we can from this game and try to move forward. ...They got a lot of open looks."

The Raptors led 33-23 after the first quarter.

Ross scored 12 points in the second quarter as the Raptors built a 26-point lead, and the score was 69-49 at the intermission.

"We just can't have it in the back of the mind that the offense will bail us out if we aren't having a great defensive night," DeRozan said. "We have to lean on defense no matter what, even if the shots are going in, still play defense like we are missing shots."

Toronto's lead reached 24 points early in the third quarter.

The Bucks went on a surge. Antetokounmpo made a layup after a steal and converted the free throw for a three-point play that reduced Toronto's lead to 16 points.

Antetokounmpo's hook shot pulled Milwaukee within 14 points, and Parker's driving hook cut the lead to 12.

Parker's 3-pointer reduce Toronto's lead to 10 with 54.4 seconds left in the third. Malcolm Brodgon made two free throws to cut the deficit to eight. DeRozan made two free throws to close out the third quarter with Toronto leading 92-82.

Ross scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to put Toronto ahead 99-82. After the Bucks scored, Ross came back and hit a 3-pointer, and Toronto led 102-84 with 8:54 to play.

Lowry hit a 3-pointer to increase the advantage to 21.

"Teams are trying to take the ball out of Kyle and DeMar's hands, and they're doing a good job of finding (other players)," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. "I don't know how many assists we had, 26. DeMar is doing a good job finding, Kyle is doing a good job finding, they're trying to blitz him, and he's kicking it out and guys are making shots."

NOTES: Raptors F DeMarre Carroll returned to the starting lineup Monday. He was rested for Friday's win over the Celtics in Boston to protect his right knee that required surgery in January. F Norman Powell, who took Carroll's place and scored 20 points Friday, was a reserve Monday, and he scored seven points in eight minutes. ... The Raptors defeated the Bucks in Milwaukee 105-99 on Nov. 25 in a game that had 14 lead changes and 18 ties. The teams play again Jan. 27 at Toronto and March 4 at Milwaukee. The Raptors swept the four-game series between the teams last season. ... The Raptors' next game will be against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday. ... The Bucks are home to face the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.
