Thunder 94, Kings 81: Kevin Durant scored 29 points to extend his streak of games with 25 or more to 37, and Oklahoma City benefited from a sizable early lead against visiting Sacramento.
Russell Westbrook added 18 points and six assists for the Thunder, who maintained their grip on second place in the Western Conference standings. Jeremy Lamb contributed 13 points off the bench and Serge Ibaka finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds for Oklahoma City.
Rookie guard Ben McLemore scored 18 points and Travis Outlaw had 17 off the bench to lead the Kings. Ray McCallum scored 13 points and Jason Thompson contributed 10 points and a team-high 14 rebounds in a reserve role for Sacramento.
The Thunder surged to a 32-14 lead with 58 seconds left in the opening quarter and the lead stretched to 22 as the Kings went the first four minutes of the second quarter without scoring. Sacramento managed to get back within 12 after Westbrook was called for a technical foul with 3:15 left in the first half and McLemore made the free throw.
The Thunder took a 54-38 lead into the break and again withstood an attempt by the Kings to get back within single digits. Another technical foul, this one on Ibaka, led to a Rudy Gay free throw and Gay then scored a layup seven seconds later to trim the deficit back to 12, but they would get no closer as Oklahoma City would stretch the lead to 31 entering the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Durant’s streak of 25-point games is the fourth-longest single-season streak in NBA history. Wilt Chamberlain holds the record of 80 from the 1961-62 season. … Westbrook, who underwent a third surgery on his right knee in December, played in back-to-back games for the first time since March 11 and 13. … Sacramento leading scorer and rebounder DeMarcus Cousins battled foul trouble before finishing with four points and four rebounds in 17 minutes.
