Warriors 113, Trail Blazers 112: Stephen Curry knocked down six 3-pointers en route to 37 points and Klay Thompson buried the go-ahead 3-pointer as visiting Golden State stunned Portland.
Thompson finished with 27 points and David Lee scored 16 for the Warriors, who snapped a two-game slide and moved within 1 1/2 games of the Trail Blazers for the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference. Curry and Thompson combined for nine of Golden State’s 11 3-pointers.
Damian Lillard collected 26 points and seven assists for Portland, which fell for the fifth time in six games. Nicolas Batum recorded 23 points and 14 rebounds but split a pair of free throws with 5.8 seconds left and missed a desperation 3-pointer after getting the offensive rebound.
Curry’s 3-pointer gave the Warriors a 100-96 lead with 5:07 remaining before Batum scored six straight to put the Trail Blazers back on top. Portland was up 111-110 after four straight points from Lillard but Thompson knocked down a 3-pointer with 11.9 seconds to play and Batum could not get his second free throw to fall on the ensuing possession.
The Trail Blazers used a 19-4 run through the middle of the second quarter to gain control and took a 55-44 lead into the break before spreading it out to as much as 18 points with 7:16 left in the third quarter. Curry put up 11 points in the final 5:47 of the third to help pull the Warriors within 85-77 at the end of the period, and his technical free throw knotted it at 96 with 6:01 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Batum has hauled in at least 14 rebounds in three straight games. … Portland F LaMarcus Aldridge (back) missed his second straight game and Dorell Wright chipped in 13 points while starting in his place. … Robin Lopez (14 points and 10 rebounds) added a double-double for the Blazers and Mo Williams (hip) returned from a two-game absence to add 12 points off the bench.
