Wizards 115, Magic 106: John Wall recorded 27 points and seven assists as Washington defeated visiting Orlando for its season-high fourth straight victory.
Marcin Gortat contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Wizards moved over the .500 mark (29-28) for the second time this season. Trevor Ariza scored 22 points, including 5-of-5 from 3-point range, and Bradley Beal added 21 as Washington shot 52.5 percent from the field and made 10-of-16 behind the arc.
Rookie Victor Oladipo led the way with 26 points and Maurice Harkless matched his season high with 22 for the Magic, who lost their 16th straight road game. Nikola Vucevic registered 19 points and 14 rebounds while Tobias Harris scored 11 and Kyle O’Quinn added 10 points for Orlando, which committed 17 turnovers.
Wall scored 13 in the first quarter as Washington led by four, and the Wizards pushed their advantage as high as 14 points in the second. Harkless scored seven straight to pull Orlando within 57-53 before Wall capped the opening half with a dunk and a three-point play as Washington built a 62-53 lead at intermission.
The Magic trailed by 17 before scoring 11 straight in the third quarter, but Gortat and Ariza combined for the final seven points as the Wizards took a 93-80 lead into the fourth. Orlando closed within 103-95 with 5:12 left before Ariza knocked home a 3-pointer and Washington was on its way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington won for only the second time in eight games this season without PF Nene, who suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee Sunday against Cleveland and is expected to miss about six weeks. … Orlando G Arron Afflalo, the team’s leading scorer, missed his second straight game with a sprained left ankle and Wizards C Kevin Seraphin was held out with a sore right knee. … Wizards F Chris Singleton, who had not played the previous 16 games, collected four points and five rebounds in 14 minutes.
