Pelicans 110, Trail Blazers 108: Jrue Holiday scored 15 of his season-high 31 points in the fourth quarter and Tyreke Evans scored the decisive basket with 1.2 seconds to go as host New Orleans sent Portland to consecutive losses for the first time this season.
Holiday also tied a season high with 13 assists while Anthony Davis finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Pelicans, who shot 53.9 percent and had a 47-38 advantage on the glass. Evans scored 20 points off the bench and Al-Farouq Aminu collected 15 boards.
Damian Lillard led the Trail Blazers with 29 points while LaMarcus Aldridge had 28. Wesley Matthews chipped in 18 points for Portland, which also fell at home to Miami on Saturday.
The Trail Blazers scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to forge the first of several ties in the stanza, but Holiday had eight straight New Orleans points and fed Davis to put his team up 104-100 with three minutes left. Lillard answered another Holiday basket with a long 3-pointer to tie it at 108 with 10.9 ticks remaining before Evans knocked down a jumper and Aldridge missed at the buzzer.
After Lillard's 3-pointer put Portland up 33-32 early in the second, New Orleans ran off 12 straight points and finished the first half with a Holiday basket to carry a 56-49 lead into the locker room. The Blazers got within 70-68 on a 3-pointer by Matthews midway through the third before Davis had two dunks and a block on Aldridge in an 8-0 burst en route to an 89-82 advantage entering the fourth.
