Raptors 109, Mavericks 108 (OT): Kyle Lowry scored 20 points and Jonas Valanciunas tallied 18 points and 13 rebounds as visiting Toronto outlasted Dallas.
DeMar DeRozan scored nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, including the go-ahead jumper from just beyond the foul line with 1:10 left in the extra period. Amir Johnson and Terrence Ross also scored 15 for the Raptors, and Greivis Vasquez chipped in 14 off the bench.
Former Raptor Jose Calderon scored a season-high 23 points to go with nine assists for Dallas, and Dirk Nowitzki added 22 points and nine rebounds but missed a fadeaway baseline jumper for the win at the end of the regulation. Monta Ellis tallied 21 points and 11 assists but missed a runner from the left elbow just before the final buzzer.
Nowitzki and Ellis combined for 19 points to carry the Mavericks in the third quarter, and Ellis' layup just before the buzzer put Dallas ahead 81-78 heading to the final stanza. Vasquez scored eight points and DeRozan hit a 3-pointer during an 11-0 run to start the fourth and give Toronto an eight-point edge, but Calderon scored 11 straight Dallas points to lead the Mavericks back and force DeRozan to hit a tough shot from the left baseline with 16.5 seconds left to force overtime.
The Mavericks held the Raptors without a field goal for more than three minutes at the end of the first quarter and nearly four minutes to start the second, opening a 41-22 lead. Dallas went cold in the second quarter, though, as Toronto ripped off a pair of 10-0 runs and was within 52-49 at halftime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Dallas dropped to 12-3 when leading after three quarters, including a 9-1 mark at home. … Toronto won for only the fourth time in 18 all-time meetings at Dallas. … The Mavericks outscored the Raptors 60-40 in the paint.
