Rockets 110, Raptors 104 (2OT): Jeremy Lin scored 27 of his 31 points after the half and Dwight Howard collected 18 points and 24 rebounds as Houston survived a scare from visiting Toronto.
James Harden added 26 points, including eight in the second overtime, and had 10 assists while Chandler Parsons scored 18 for the Rockets, who snapped a two-game slide. Terrence Jones gave Houston a 106-104 lead in the second overtime and Lin grabbed a rebound before knocking down another shot to help put it away.
Rudy Gay recorded 29 points and 10 rebounds, DeMar DeRozan scored 22 and Kyle Lowry had 16 before fouling out for the Raptors, who have not won at Houston since Feb. 28, 2007.
Amir Johnson gave Toronto its first lead since the first quarter on a put-back with 40 seconds left but Harden split a pair of free throws to knot it again at 87, and Gay and Harden each missed a chance to give their team a win in the final seconds of regulation. Lin’s layup gave Houston a 95-92 lead in overtime before Gay’s 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds left forced a second extra session.
The Rockets held the Raptors to 25.6 percent shooting in the first half and held Toronto without a field goal in the final 5:26 of the second quarter to take a 47-33 lead at the break. Houston led by as much as 54-37 four minutes into the third and owned a 14-point gap early in the fourth before Lowry scored the final five points of a 14-2 run that cut it to 82-80 with 4:26 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Howard and Harden combined to go 1-for-6 from the line in the final 3:11 of regulation, with Howard missing all four of his attempts as the Raptors clawed back into the game. Howard finished 4-for-12 at the line. … Jonas Valanciunas (10 points, 13 rebounds), Lowry, Gay and Terrence Ross (nine points) each fouled out for the Raptors. … Lin (3-for-6) was the only player to hit 50 percent or better from beyond the arc for the Rockets (7-of-26).
