Knicks 85, Pacers 75: Carmelo Anthony led the way with 28 points as host New York turned up the defense and stayed alive in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Chris Copeland added 13 points off the bench and Raymond Felton scored 12 for the Knicks, who held Indiana to 36.2 percent from the field and forced 19 turnovers. New York trails 3-2 in the best-of-seven series, which shifts back to Indiana for Saturday's Game 6.
Paul George scored 23 points and David West collected 17 and 10 rebounds but the Pacers were without starting point guard George Hill due to a concussion. Replacement D.J. Augustin scored 12 points but did not have an assist as the offense struggled.
Indiana pulled to within 75-71 on George’s 3-pointer with 6:41 left but Anthony responded with a jumper and the Pacers missed their next four field goal attempts. Indiana failed to get a shot off while turning the ball over on three consecutive possessions with under two minutes left as New York put it away.
The Knicks held the Pacers to 29.3 percent shooting in the first half and got 15 points from Anthony to take a 40-34 lead into the break. New York led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter and never trailed in the contest.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana is 7-0 this postseason when Hill scores more than 12 points and dropped to 0-4 when he fails to reach at least 13 or doesn't play. … The New York bench outscored the Pacers 35-10. J.R. Smith added 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting to help the Knicks reserves. … New York PG Jason Kidd went 0-for-1 in five minutes to run his scoreless streak to nine straight games.
