Trail Blazers 106, Mavericks 104: LaMarcus Aldridge hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds left and then buried the game-winner at the buzzer to give Portland an improbable win over visiting Dallas.
The Blazers erased a 21-point third-quarter deficit, lost a late lead and then fought back from seven points down in the final two minutes. Seven seconds after Dirk Nowitzki had given the Mavericks a lead with a 3-pointer of his own, Aldridge hit his first of the season and then nailed a turnaround 18-footer to win it after a Dallas turnover gave the hosts one last chance.
Aldridge had 29 points and 13 rebounds and J.J. Hickson added 26 points and 15 rebounds for Portland. Nowitzki scored a season-high 26 for the Mavericks, who took a 101-94 lead on Brandan Wright's basket with 2:18 to go.
Aldridge answered with a pair of free throws and Wesley Matthews added two more with 52 seconds left to pull the Blazers within 101-98. Nowitzki missed a 20-footer on the other end and Nicolas Batum tied it with a 3-pointer with 28 seconds remaining.
Shawn Marion then found Nowitzki for his tie-breaking shot from the arc with only 11.4 seconds left, but Aldridge, who had missed all nine of his 3-pointers this season, was left alone to tie it at 104. O.J. Mayo was then whistled for a charge, allowing for one dramatic possession for Portland.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Mavericks have scored at least 100 points in nine straight games. ... Darren Collison scored 17 points and handed out nine assists for Dallas. Mayo had 15 points and nine assists but committed three of his five turnovers during Portland's closing run. ... Matthews had 17 points for the Blazers.
