Thunder 111, Mavericks 105 (OT): Kevin Durant scored 40 points and Russell Westbrook scored eight of his 16 points in overtime as host Oklahoma City avoided its first three-game losing streak of the season.
The Mavericks led 104-101 in the extra session before Westbrook scored eight straight Thunder points, including a jumper with 1:04 left to give Oklahoma City the lead. Serge Ibaka had 19 points, 17 rebounds and five blocked shots while Kevin Martin tallied 18 points for the Thunder.
Darren Collison scored a season-high 32 points and Chris Kaman added 17 for Dallas, which has lost four straight games and seven of eight. Dirk Nowitzki had nine points and six rebounds in 26 minutes in his second outing since returning from October knee surgery.
Durant hit a go-ahead basket with 1:57 remaining in regulation to give Oklahoma City its first lead since the opening four minutes. He added two free throws with 3.7 seconds to play before Collison hit an off-balance, buzzer-beating 3-pointer to force overtime.
Collison had 16 first-half points as Dallas took a 45-43 halftime lead. The Mavericks were ahead 89-79 with under 8 1/2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter after back-to-back 3-pointers by Vince Carter before the Thunder responded with a 13-4 run to pull within one on Thabo Sefolosha’s basket with 3:38 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Dallas was 14-of-16 from the free-throw line, with the lone misses being two by O.J. Mayo with 33.2 seconds left in overtime. … Westbrook also had 10 assists for his third consecutive double-double. … Mayo had just four points on 1-of-7 shooting and committed six turnovers. He is averaging just 7.3 points and shooting 25 percent (10-of-40) over the past four games.
