Pacers 96, Wizards 89: David West scored 13 of his season-high 30 points in the fourth quarter as Indiana snapped a six-game road losing streak by holding off winless Washington.
Roy Hibbert added 20 points and 12 rebounds and West sank all 10 foul shots for the Pacers, who have defeated the Wizards in eight straight contests.
Third overall pick Bradley Beal had a team-high 18 points off the bench for the Wizards (0-9), who set a franchise record for season-opening losses. Washington dropped its first eight games to start the last two campaigns.
After the Wizards trimmed a 20-point deficit to one at 86-85, West drilled three jumpers before George Hill sealed the game with a pair of free throws.
Hibbert and West scored seven points apiece during a 17-8 run to give the Pacers a 69-49 advantage, but Beal answered by scoring nine of Washington's 16 consecutive points to close within four.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana jumped out to a 32-13 lead, but Jordan Crawford scored nine points during the second quarter to help Washington trim its deficit to nine at the half. ...
