Nets 107, Raptors 100: Brook Lopez scored 27 points as host Brooklyn held off Toronto in the regular-season unveiling of the $1 billion Barclays Center.
Deron Williams had 19 points and nine assists, C.J. Watson scored 15 points and Joe Johnson added 14 for the Nets, who were playing for the first time after their slated Thursday opener against the New York Knicks was postponed in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
Kyle Lowry had 28 points, eight rebounds and eight assists and DeMar DeRozan scored 25 points for Toronto, which lost its second straight game to start the campaign.
Brooklyn never trailed in the second half and had a 70-57 lead after Lopez hit two three throws with 7:37 left in the third quarter. The Raptors cut their deficit down to six by the end of the quarter and pulled within 84-83 on Ed Davis’ basket with 8:46 left in the contest.
Toronto had an eight-point lead after the opening quarter but Brooklyn outscored the Raptors by 16 in the second to take a 60-52 halftime lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Brooklyn’s Reggie Evans had 13 rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench. … Lowry connected on four of Toronto’s seven 3-pointers. … The Nets had 19 fast-break points in the first half but just two in the second.
