PACERS 101, MAGIC 99 (OT): George Hill hit two free throws with 2.2 seconds remaining in overtime and David West had 26 points and 12 rebounds as visiting Indiana took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 Eastern Conference series.
Danny Granger scored 21 points and Roy Hibbert had 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Pacers won their third straight game.
Jason Richardson scored 25 points and Glen Davis added 24 points and 11 rebounds for Orlando.
Indiana returns home with a chance to clinch the series in Tuesday’s Game 5.
Hill scored Indiana’s last six points and was fouled by Orlando’s Jameer Nelson as he drove through the lane. He calmly hit both shots to cap a 12-point performance.
Davis missed a 10-foot turnaround shot at the buzzer.
Indiana blew a 19-point lead with eight minutes left in regulation. The Magic got back in the game with an 18-2 surge and later scored the final eight points of the quarter, tying the game on J.J. Redick’s 3-pointer with 38.7 seconds left.
West hit the first two baskets of overtime and Granger added a 20-footer as Indiana jumped out to a six-point lead in the extra session. Orlando followed with the next six and tied the score at 95 on Jameer Nelson’s three-point play with 1:35 remaining. Davis twice hit game-tying shots in the final minute before his last-second shot, well defended by Indiana’s Paul George, bounced off the rim.
The Pacers dominated the third quarter for the third straight game by outscoring the Magic 27-17 to take a 73-61 lead. Indiana stretched its advantage to 82-63 on Granger’s basket with 8:14 to play before Orlando rolled off 14 consecutive points to pull within five on Richardson’s layup with 4:48 left.
Nelson added 12 points and 11 assists for Orlando.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana has outscored Orlando 108-60 in the third quarter in the series … The Magic were 9 of 29 from 3-point range … Hibbert has registered double-digit rebounding efforts in all four games and is averaging 11.8 boards … Orlando’s Ryan Anderson was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player on Friday but is averaging just 8.5 points in the series after scoring 11 in Game 4.
