BULLS 96, HEAT 86 (OT): C.J. Watson forced overtime with a 3-pointer at the end of regulation and finished with 16 points and eight assists as host Chicago opened up a four-game lead on Miami for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
Carlos Boozer collected 19 points and 11 rebounds and Kyle Korver hit five 3-pointers en route to 17 points for the Bulls, who got 47 points from their reserves.
Derrick Rose returned to the lineup but went scoreless in the first half and finished with a career-low two points on 1-of-13 shooting. He was off the floor for the final minutes of regulation and overtime.
LeBron James, who had given the Heat the lead with a 3-pointer seconds earlier, had a chance to ice the game at the free throw line with 11.2 seconds left but split the pair, leaving Miami with an 84-81 edge.
The Heat double-teamed Korver on the ensuing play but he managed to get a pass out to Carlos Boozer, who found C.J. Watson on the left wing. Watson ball faked and rimmed in a 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to send the game to overtime.
The Bulls hit five of their first six shots in the extra period to jump out big.
Miami led by as much as 10 points late in the third quarter before the Bulls chipped away.
GAME NOTEBOOK: James finished with 30 points while Dwyane Wade scored 21 and Chris Bosh added 20 to lead the Heat. … Miami got more turnovers (eight) from their bench than points (seven). … The teams play again in Miami next Thursday.
