CAVALIERS 93, KINGS 92: Kyrie Irving sank a pair of free throws with 0.4 seconds left and the Cavaliers handed the Kings their fifth consecutive loss.
After DeMarcus Cousins hit a reverse layup to put the Kings up 92-91 with 2.9 seconds left, Irving inbounded the ball to Antawn Jamison coming out of a timeout and immediately got it back. He was fouled on a drive to the basket by Tyreke Evans and made both free throws.
Irving scored 23 points and Jamison had 21 for the Cavs. Tristan Thompson added 15 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.
The Kings had two chances to win it following Irving’s free throws. Evans inbounded the first time to the basket, but the clock started early when the ball hit the rim before anyone touched it. Officials gave the Kings another chance, but Cousins missed a shot at the buzzer.
Rookie Isaiah Thomas had 24 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds for the Kings, while Marcus Thornton had 21 points and Cousins 19.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Kings went away from Cousins in the fourth. He had just three shot attempts in the final quarter. … Reserve forward J.J. Hickson, who said before the game he was unhappy he was traded by the Cavs to the Kings last summer, was scoreless in 17 minutes. … Cavs forward Omri Casspi, whom the Cavs acquired for Hickson, had a career-high 12 rebounds.
