Deron Williams scored a season-high 35 points and had 14 assists to lift the New Jersey Nets to a rare win in Phoenix with a 110-103 victory over the Suns on Friday night.
Williams scored 17 in the third quarter, making 4-of-5 3-pointers, seemingly from further out each time. Williams finished 11 of 18 overall and 6 of 9 outside the arc for the Nets (3-9).
MarShon Brooks had 20 points for the Nets, Anthony Morrow 16, Kris Humphries 15 and Mehmet Okur 11.
Marcin Gortat contributed 20 points, on 10-of-14 shooting, and 10 rebounds for the Suns (4-7), who were missing Steve Nash (back) and Grant Hill (knee).
Jared Dudley and Ronnie Price (career high) each scored 18, Channing Frye 15 and Shannon Brown 13.
New Jersey led 100-88 with seven minutes remaining, but the Suns rallied to 102-99 before a dunk by Humphries and 3-pointer by Morrow gave the Nets a 107-99 lead.
The Nets had lost 16 of their last 17 in Phoenix, and nine of the last 10 meetings overall.
