Tyreke Evans scored 23 points and rookie DeMarcus Cousins added 16 as the Sacramento Kings came from behind to defeat the Toronto Raptors, 111-108, in their home opener Monday night.
Beno Udrih scored 17 points and Samuel Dalembert pulled down 14 rebounds off the bench for the Kings, who improved to 3-1.
Trailing, 83-69, late in the third period, Sacramento used a 14-3 run to pull within 86-83 on Luther Head’s 3-pointer with 10:56 to play. The Kings finally tied it at 93-93 on Cousins’ layup just under four minutes later and grabbed their first lead when Omri Casspi knocked down a 3-pointer to make it 96-95 with 5:56 left.
Linas Kleiza responded with a 3-pointer to put the Raptors back on top, but Cousins scored six points during an 11-1 spurt, giving Sacramento the lead for good. Toronto battled back within 109-108 with 13 seconds left, but Udrih knocked down a pair of free throws to seal it.
Andrea Bargnani scored 28 points and DeMar DeRozan added a career-high 24 for Toronto, which led 33-16 after the first quarter.
