Jrue Holiday scored 19 points and Spencer Hawes added a season-high 18 as the Philadelphia 76ers handed the host New Jersey Nets their eighth consecutive loss by recording an 82-77 victory Tuesday.
Elton Brand contributed 15 points as Philadelphia (9-15) won for the sixth time in eight games. Brook Lopez scored 16 points for New Jersey (6-19).
The Nets trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half and by eight in the final minute before tightening the score on Devin Harris’ layup and Travis Outlaw’s 3-pointer. But Philadelphia’s Andre Iguodala and Jodie Meeks each hit two free throws to put away the game.
Hawes made 8-of-11 shots for the 76ers, who held the Nets to 34.1 percent shooting from the field.
Harris had 14 points and six assists and Outlaw had 14 and seven rebounds for New Jersey, which had a 51-36 rebounding edge. Rookie Derrick Favors had 10 points and 13 rebounds for his second career double-double and Kris Humphries swept 13 boards.
