Mike Trout went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and three runs scored to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 10-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins in the rubber game of a three-game series Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis.
It was the 37th home run of the season for Trout, who moved into a tie for second place in the American League with Houston's Yordan Alvarez.
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. Max Stassi and Livan Soto went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Michael Stefanic and Matt Thaiss also had two hits and Luis Rengifo added two RBIs for Los Angeles (67-86), which finished with 16 hits.
Jose Suarez (7-8) picked up the win allowing two runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out six.
Caleb Hamilton homered, Carlos Correa had two doubles and scored a run and Jose Miranda, Gio Urshela and Gilberto Celestino had two hits for Minnesota (74-79), which lost for the ninth time in its last 11 games.
Dylan Bundy (8-8) suffered the loss allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Trout, who entered the contest 5-for-11 with two home runs against Bundy, lined a ground-rule double down the left-field line to start a two-run first inning for the Angels. Ohtani followed with a single to center and Trout, who originally stopped at third, scored when Celestino's wild throw to the plate bounced past catcher Hamilton for an error. One out later, Thaiss singled in Ohtani to make it 2-0.
Minnesota cut it to 2-1 in the bottom of the first when Correa doubled and scored on a single by Urshela.
Trout extended the Angels' lead to 3-1 in the third when he lined a home run 416 feet into the second deck in left.
The Twins closed to within 3-2 in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Nick Gordon, but the Angels answered with a two-run single by Rengifo to extend their lead to 5-2.
Hamilton made it 5-3 in the bottom of the eighth when he lined a home run into the bleachers in left-center, his first hit in 13 major league at-bats.
Los Angeles then broke the game open with a five-run ninth highlighted by a pair of two-run doubles by Stassi and Soto. Ohtani hit an RBI single earlier in the inning to drive in Trout, who opened the inning with a double.
