Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gave the Blue Jays an early lead and four Toronto pitchers combined to shut out the Los Angeles Angels on three hits in a 4-0 win during the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday night in Anaheim, Calif.

Bo Bichette and Teoscar Hernandez had two hits each and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. drove in two runs for the Blue Jays, who lost the first game 6-3.

Toronto starter Ross Stripling blanked the Angels on one hit over the first two innings.

Trevor Richards (5-1) did not allow a hit in the third and fourth innings, and Adam Cimber did the same in the fifth and sixth. Jordan Romano struck out Shohei Ohtani with the bases loaded to end the game and complete the shutout.

Angels starter Jose Suarez (5-5) allowed four runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked one.

George Springer doubled on a 1-2 pitch to lead off the game. Guerrero then looped an RBI single to right on the first pitch he saw for a 1-0 lead.

Guerrero, the All-Star Game MVP last month, struggled in the first game of the Tuesday doubleheader, dropping a pop fly for a two-run error and striking out three times while going 0-for-4.

Marcus Semien walked, Bichette flied out and Hernandez followed with another soft single to shallow right to score Guerrero and make it 2-0.

The Angels turned their third double play of the day to get out of the inning without further damage. Suarez retired 14 of 16 hitters before giving up back-to-back singles with one out in the sixth and then departing.

Jose Quijada entered and walked the first batter he faced, Alejandro Kirk, before giving up a two-run single to Gurriel for a 4-0 lead.

Ohtani tripled into the right-field corner to lead off the first for the Angels, but he was stranded after Stripling retired the next three batters.

The Angels didn't get another hit until Brandon Marsh singled with one out in the seventh.
