Ronald Acuna Jr. yanked a single down the left-field line to produce his first career walk-off and give the Atlanta Braves a 5-4 win over the visiting Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings on Saturday.
Acuna, who put the Braves ahead with a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning, fell behind with two quick strikes against Reds reliever Robert Stephenson. After fouling off a pitch, Acuna slapped one past third baseman Eugenio Suarez to send Adam Duvall home with the winning run.
Duvall led off the inning with a walk against Jared Hughes (3-4).
The winning pitcher was Luke Jackson (6-2), who struck out the side in the 10th inning.
The Braves improved to 10-3 in extra-inning games and evened the season series with the Reds at 3-3.
The Reds tied the game in the ninth against closer Shane Greene, who was making his Atlanta debut. He allowed back-to-back singles to Jose Iglesias and Jesse Winker to start the inning and they advanced on Josh VanMeter's grounder. Tucker Barnhart dropped a run-scoring single into left to tie the game, but Duvall gunned down Winker at the plate to preserve the tie. It was Greene's fourth blown save.
Atlanta starter Dallas Keuchel was rolling along -- he gave up only one hit through the first six innings -- before running into trouble. He allowed singles to Suarez and Jose Iglesias and gave up a three-run homer to Aristides Aquino -- the first of his career. Aquino, playing in just his fourth major league game, picked up his first career hit earlier.
Keuchel received a no-decision after pitching seven innings and allowing three runs on four hits, one walk and four strikeouts.
Cincinnati starter Trevor Bauer worked only 4 2/3 innings in his Reds' debut. Bauer gave up three runs on seven hits, with three walks and four strikeouts.
The Braves scored a run in the third when Ozzie Albies walked, advanced to third on a stolen base and a groundout, then scored on Bauer's wild pitch.
The Braves made it 3-0 with a pair of runs in the fifth. Freddie Freeman doubled to left to score Albies, who had tripled. Freeman then scored on Duvall's double to left.
