Trevor Bauer tossed 6 2/3 strong innings, and Jose Ramirez belted his first home run of the season as the Cleveland Indians posted a 6-4 victory over the host Seattle Mariners on Monday.

Jason Kipnis had an RBI single in his first contest since straining his right calf on March 20, and Hanley Ramirez also had a run-scoring single for the Indians, who snapped a three-game losing skid.

Edwin Encarnacion extended Seattle's major league record to 19 consecutive contests at the start of a season with a home run with his two-run shot in the eighth inning. Omar Narvaez homered in the next at-bat, and Domingo Santana had an RBI single among his three hits for the Mariners, who have dropped four in a row.

Cleveland received a sterling outing from Bauer (2-1) after surrendering a total of 20 runs in its previous three contests. The 28-year-old gave up one run on five hits and three walks with eight strikeouts before he was lifted with two on and two outs in the seventh. Adam Cimber fanned Mitch Haniger with the bases loaded to end the inning and keep Bauer in line for the win.

The Indians benefited from four walks, a pair of wild pitches and a bases-loaded hit batter to push across a pair of runs in the eighth and claim a 5-1 lead.

Those two runs proved pivotal as Encarnacion deposited a 1-2 sinker from Oliver Perez over the wall in the left and Narvaez sent an 0-1 fastball into the seats in right to trim the deficit to 5-4. Ryon Healy's bid for extra bases was thwarted by a diving catch from right fielder Greg Allen to end the inning.

Mariners shortstop Tim Beckham committed a pair of errors in the ninth inning, the second of which came after he threw the ball into right field to allow Carlos Gonzalez to score.

Brad Hand struck out a pair in the ninth inning to secure his fifth save of the season.

A pair of two-out RBI singles in the first inning staked Cleveland to an early lead before Jose Ramirez sent an 0-1 fastball from Yusei Kikuchi (0-1) over the wall in left field for his first homer of the season in the third.

Seattle made a dent on the scoreboard in the sixth, as Haniger doubled to left and came around to score after Domingo Santana sent a breaking ball from Bauer to shallow right field.
