TORONTO -- Edwin Encarnacion showed how vital he is to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The designated hitter had missed the two previous games after taking a cortisone injection in his sore left shoulder Saturday.

And Tuesday he gave the Blue Jays a shot in the arm with a two-run, walk-off home run in the ninth inning for a 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins, extending the Blue Jays' season-best winning streak to seven games.

"That's why it's important to have Eddie in there because he can do that," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons.

The one-out blast to center came on the first pitch against right-hander A.J. Ramos (0-1) with third baseman Josh Donaldson on base after a leadoff single to right.

"I just tried to make a good swing and was looking for my pitch," Encarnacion said. "I was looking for a fastball early in the count. He threw me a first-pitch fastball and I didn't miss it."

"It was still a little too far up for these guys," Ramos said. "In this park guys can really hit. I should've been a little bit lower. He did what he does and he hit it out of the ballpark."

The Blue Jays overcame two home runs by Miami right fielder Giancarlo Stanton and a solo homer by left fielder Christian Yelich.

Right-hander Liam Hendriks (2-0) pitched the ninth for Toronto to get the win.

"I can never remember a year that I've been here where we've won that many walk-off games with a home run," Gibbons said. "I've seen some walk-off sac bunts but I haven't seen many walk-off homers."

It was the Blue Jays' fourth walk-off win of the season and their third with a home run.

"We're on a roll, we're feeling good and you get on those rolls and good things happen, and you start believing they're going to happen, and who knows," Gibbons said.

"These guys are hitting really good and today they bested me," Ramos said. "In this game, if you throw, you've got to be perfect. Today I wasn't perfect and that's what happens. I was excited to face these guys because they're hot."

Miami right-hander Dan Haren allowed three hits and two runs while striking out seven and did not factor in the decision.

"A lot of them hit me really good, especially in the middle of the lineup," Haren said. "It's a challenge to keep the ball in the ballpark. One mistake can change the game. I struck a few guys out and I was able to minimize damage. I mean they had second and third no outs (in the fourth), both runners scored, but those innings could get even worse."

Toronto left fielder Chris Colabello had his career-long hitting streak end at 18. Miami center fielder Marcell Ozuna extended his season-best hitting streak to 10 games with a first-inning single.

Toronto left-hander Mark Buehrle allowed eight hits, one intentional walk and two runs on two home runs in six innings.

Right-hander Roberto Osuna replaced Buehrle in the seventh inning of a 2-2 game. The rookie reliever gave up a two-out homer to Stanton, his second homer of the game, his third of the series and his 21st of the season.

It was the third multi-homer game of the season for Stanton and the 16th of his career.

Stanton hit his first homer of the game with two outs in the first inning to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.

The homer snapped a string of 17 straight scoreless innings by Buehrle that included a shutout over the Washington Nationals last Wednesday, which was his second straight complete game.

The Marlins took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Yelich hit his third homer of the season on the first pitch with two outs.

Haren retired his first nine batters of the game before shortstop Jose Reyes led off the fourth with a double to right.

Donaldson singled to left, moving Reyes to third. Donaldson then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
