Torii Hunter lined an RBI double to drive in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and give the host Los Angeles Angels a 4-1 win over Oakland on Monday.
Bobby Abreu reached on a fielder's choice and stole second base before scoring on Hunter's double. Hunter hit the double off Oakland's Michael Wuertz, who had allowed just four hits in 10 appearances in May before Monday's game. Brian Fuentes (1-7) took the loss.
Jeff Mathis hit a two-run single later in the eighth off Wuertz to give Los Angeles insurance.
Scott Downs (2-1) pitched a scoreless eighth to pick up the win and Jordan Walden earned his ninth save with a scoreless ninth inning.
The rally followed solid starting outings from Oakland's Josh Outman and Los Angeles' Jered Weaver. Outman, who was called up Monday from Triple-A Sacramento, yielded one run and five hits in seven innings. Weaver, who pitched seven innings, allowed one run and six hits and is still winless since April 25.
