Florida 63, Wake Forest 50: Dorian Finney-Smith had 16 points, six rebounds and four steals as the Gators notched their fourth straight win in the Orange Bowl Classic at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla.
Michael Frazier II headed to the locker room early in the first half with a head injury but returned to score 12 points for Florida (7-4). Alex Murphy added nine points off the bench, and Chris Chiozza had eight.
Codi Miller-McIntrye notched 16 points, six boards and four assists, and Darius Leonard added 10 points for Wake Forest (5-6), which finished with 24 turnovers. The Demon Deacons shot 37 percent from the field for their lowest point total of the season.
Wake Forest led briefly in the first half before a 15-0 run propelled Florida to a 22-10 advantage with just over 10 minutes to play. The scoring stalled for nearly five minutes, but the Gators scraped together four free throws and a bucket from Jacob Kurtz to stay on top 28-19 at intermission.
Miller-McIntyre converted a four-point play with just over five minutes to go in the second frame, pulling the Demon Deacons within 52-48, but Florida opened it back up to double digits on a pair of baskets inside sandwiched around Finney-Smith's 3-pointer. Wake Forest got within one earlier using an 11-3 run but got no closer.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wake Forest announced the suspensions of three players prior to the game. Mitchell Wilbekin will miss up to six games due to an NCAA violation and freshmen Cornelius Hudson and Rondale Watson sat out due to conduct detrimental to the team. ... Frazier left with 11:13 to go in the first half after colliding with a Wake Forest player; he suffered a gash over the right eye and needed 14 stitches. ... The Demon Deacons went more than 8 1/2 minutes without a field goal in the first half and finished with only seven before the break.
