Mets 5, Phillies 0: Jon Niese threw a three-hit shutout and helped himself with a three-run double as host New York snapped a five-game losing streak.

Niese (6-6) won his third consecutive decision with his second career shutout and first since June 2010. He struck out five, walked one and retired 17 straight batters at one point until Michael Young led off the eighth inning with a double.

Niese also did the bulk of damage offensively for the Mets, who had scored only six runs during their five-game skid. Niese drew a walk and scored the game's first run in the third inning on Daniel Murphy's RBI single before clearing the bases with a sixth-inning double for a 5-0 lead.

Kyle Kendrick (10-11) absorbed his third straight defeat for Philadelphia, giving up five runs (one earned) on five hits in six innings. He also walked four, including a pair of intentional passes during New York's game-breaking uprising.

Rookie catcher Travis d'Arnaud delivered a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead after Kendrick intentionally walked Juan Lagares to load the bases in the sixth. The Phillies also elected to walk Omar Quintanilla to reload the bases, but Niese made them pay by driving a fastball up the alley in left-center.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Niese's three RBIs were a career high and the first three-RBI game by a Mets pitcher since Al Leiter in 1999. ... The Mets traded OF Marlon Byrd and C John Buck to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday in exchange for INF prospect Dilson Herrera and a player to be named later. ... Young had two of the three hits for the Phillies, who lost for only the third time in 10 games.
