Rangers 6, Astros 1: Colby Lewis took a shutout into the ninth and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as visiting Texas won the rubber game of the Lone Star Series to keep the Silver Boot for the sixth consecutive year.
Lewis (4-3) snapped a personal three-game losing streak to win for the first time since April 28. He allowed only four hits in eight-plus innings and flirted with the second shutout of his career before Jed Lowrie led off the ninth with his sixth home run.
Lewis also played a big role in staking himself to an early lead, his two-run single to center capping a five-run first against Jordan Lyles. Josh Hamilton started the scoring with a sacrifice fly, and Nelson Cruz added a two-run single in the inning.
Lyles (0-1) settled down after the disastrous start and posted three scoreless innings before giving up David Murphy's solo homer in the fifth.
Texas 3B Adrian Beltre went 0-for-5 to snap a 10-game hitting streak. Beltre was the only batter in the Rangers' lineup without a hit.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Astros OF Jordan Schafer missed the series finale with a right ankle sprain. … Lewis had only three hits and two RBIs in 17 previous plate appearances. … Hamilton has not hit a home run in a season-high eight games. He leads the majors with 18 homers.
