Jeriah Horne scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane took advantage of a long Oregon State scoring drought to beat the Beavers, 64-58, Monday in Tulsa, Okla.

The Golden Hurricane (2-1) opened up a nine-point lead just before the final media timeout amid an Oregon State scoreless spell of 4:17.

That stretch gave Tulsa enough cushion to hold the Beavers off down the stretch.

Oregon State (1-2) responded with a furious, 7-0 rally, pulling to within a basket with 47 seconds remaining. Rey Idowu and Darien Jackson sank four consecutive free throws after the Beavers were forced to foul, icing the win for Tulsa.

Idowu finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Jackson added six points, three rebounds and two steals off the bench.

Sam Griffin notched 13 points for the Golden Hurricane despite shooting 4-of-11 from the floor and 1-of-7 from 3-point range. Griffin also made two steals, contributing to Tulsa's 21 points scored off 15 Oregon State turnovers.

Oregon State's Maurice Calloo led all scorers with 20 points, shot 5-of-7 from beyond the 3-point arc, and grabbed six rebounds. The Beavers finished 10-of-24 from long range, but shot a dismal 4-of-11 at the free-throw line.

Warith Alatishe shot 1-of-4 at the charity stripe, and was bottled up most of his seven-point night by Tulsa's interior defense. The Golden Hurricane held the Beavers to just 20 points in the paint.

Tulsa also notched a pivotal 12-5 advantage in second-chance points.

Rodrigue Andela scored 10 points off the bench for Oregon State in the loss and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Jarod Lucas scored all nine of his points from behind the 3-point line, finishing 3-of-8 from deep.

Nikita Konstantynovskyi grabbed seven rebounds off the bench for Tulsa in the win.
