SOUTH FLORIDA 46, CINCINNATI 45: Anthony Collins hit the winning free throws with three seconds left for the Bulls, who moved past the Bearcats into a tie with Georgetown for fourth place in the Big East.

South Florida (18-11), trying to pad its NCAA tournament resume, trailed by a point on two occasions with less than a half minute to play. After Cincinnati (20-9, 11-6) went ahead 43-42 on Cashmere Wright’s layup with 11 seconds left, Collins (team-high 14 points) was fouled and drained both free throws.

Cincinnati held South Florida without a point for more than six minutes to take a 41-37 lead with 4:39 to play. Yancy Gates, who had been held scoreless through the game’s first 34 minutes, had consecutive buckets to cap the run.

Sean Kilpatrick led the Bearcats with 13 points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cincinnati, which came in as one of the worst shooting teams in the Big East, missed 13 of its first 17 shots and went seven minutes without a field goal, but still found itself down just 25-23 at halftime … It was Cincinnati’s lowest point total since losing to Georgetown, 74-47 in the 2009-2010 regular season finale ... South Florida won all four home meetings with Cincinnati since both schools joined the Big East in 2005.
