Ryan Evans scored a career-high 22 points as visiting No. 11 Wisconsin ruined Nebraska’s Big Ten debut with a 64-40 victory Tuesday.

Jordan Taylor added 15 points and seven assists for the Badgers (12-2, 1-0 Big Ten), who extended their streak NCAA-best streak of holding opponents under 65 points to 18 games.

After trailing 33-26 at halftime, the Huskers (8-4, 0-1) moved to within five on a pair of free throws from Toney McCray on their first possession of the second half, but the Badgers went on a 27-7 run to gradually open up a 25-point bulge late.

Wisconsin’s defense absolutely stymied Nebraska, especially in the second half, holding the Huskers to five field goals and 21.7 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes.

It marked the 12th time in 14 games the Badgers have held their opponent to a season-low point total.

Nebraska fell to 2-1 while two of its top four scorers - center Jorge Brian Diaz (foot) and sixth man Dylan Talley (thigh bruise) – continued to sit out with injuries.

McCray led the Huskers with 16 points and nine rebounds.
