CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kemba Walker scored 22 points and the Charlotte Hornets came alive in the second half to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 109-93 on Wednesday night at the Spectrum Center.

The Hornets trailed by 13 points in the first half and were down 53-46 at halftime, but they scored the first 13 points of the third quarter and remained in control from there. They eventually led by as many as 18 points.

The Hornets (3-1) were playing on three days' rest and the Sixers were on the second night of their first back-to-back of the season.

The Sixers (0-4) are still winless as they try to avoid the kind of terrible starts that have plagued them the last two seasons. They lost their first 18 games last season and started the 2014-2015 season 0-17.

Nicolas Batum added 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Hornets. The Hornets also got 14 points from Frank Kaminsky, 13 points from Cody Zeller, 11 points each from Marvin Williams and Marco Belinelli and 13 rebounds from Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. The Hornets finished shooting 49.4 percent from the field.

Ersan Ilyasova, acquired in a trade with Oklahoma City on Tuesday, made his Philly debut and finished with 14 points in 24 minutes.

Dario Saric also scored 14 points for the Sixers. Jahlil Okafor scored 12 and Gerald Henderson and Richaun Holmes scored 11 each.

The Sixers shot just 39.5 percent from the field and committed 19 turnovers that the Hornets converted into 29 points.

The teams were tied 26-26 after one quarter. The Sixers' biggest lead came at 49-36 before the Hornets whittled the lead to seven at the break.

Charlotte then outscored Philadelphia 39-20 in the third quarter and took an 85-73 lead into the fourth.
