Grizzlies 105, Knicks 83: Mike Conley collected 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as Memphis handed visiting New York its franchise record-tying 12th straight loss.
Tony Allen had 14 points and seven steals and Marc Gasol added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Grizzlies, who bounced back from a 29-point loss at Denver on Saturday. Courtney Lee scored 11 points as Memphis shot 52.4 percent from the field.
Quincy Acy collected career highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds off the bench for the Knicks, who were again without Carmelo Anthony (knee) and Amar’e Stoudemire (knee). New York also sat J.R. Smith in anticipation of a three-team trade that reportedly sent Smith and fellow guard Iman Shumpert out of town on Monday.
The Grizzlies jumped out to a 16-4 lead but the Knicks made a run in the second quarter and jumped on top 29-26 when Jose Calderon buried a 3-pointer with 5:09 left in the half. Vince Carter responded with a 3-pointer to spark a 12-0 run for Memphis, and the Grizzlies took a 47-36 lead into the half.
Gasol’s layup capped a 13-2 run in the third that pushed the lead to 75-53 with 4:16 left in the quarter. It was an 84-62 cushion heading into the fourth and Memphis left the starters on the bench down the stretch.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Knicks will reportedly send Shumpert and Smith to the Cleveland Cavaliers and will receive the non-guaranteed contracts of Alex Kirk and Lou Amundson from Cleveland along with Lance Thomas from Oklahoma City. … New York C Samuel Dalembert, who missed his fifth straight game with an ankle injury, will reportedly be waived along with all three non-guaranteed players coming back in the trade to free up salary cap space. … The Knicks also dropped 12 straight in 1985 and have lost 22 of their last 23 overall.
