Rockets 120, 76ers 98: James Harden notched his second career triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as Houston sent visiting Philadelphia to its 26th straight defeat, matching the longest losing streak in NBA history.
The 76ers committed 22 turnovers and were outrebounded 57-39 in matching the record 26-game run of futility established by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010-11. Philadelphia, which received 30 points from James Anderson, will look to avoid setting a new mark when it hosts Detroit on Saturday, exactly two months after its last victory.
Terrence Jones scored 20 points and Dwight Howard finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Rockets, who have won 11 straight at home and completed their home schedule against Eastern Conference opponents with a 15-0 mark. Henry Sims had 18 points and Thaddeus Young chipped in 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Sixers.
Young and Harden had 10 points apiece as the Rockets ended the first quarter up 35-28 but the Sixers rallied to tie it at 43 on Anderson's 3-pointer midway through the second. Howard answered moments later with a basket and had 11 points in a 20-5 burst and Houston carried a 63-49 advantage into the break.
Jones scored 12 points in the third quarter, including a dunk midway through that gave the Rockets their first 20-point lead. Jones had another slam later in the period to spark a 12-2 burst that put Houston up 100-73, and the lead was at least 19 the rest of the way as the Rockets won their fifth straight overall to remain one game behind the third-place Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference race.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Harden finished the triple-double with a rebound in the final second of the third quarter before sitting out the final 12 minutes. ... Anderson, who set a career high with 36 points in an overtime win against Houston in November, made 6-of-11 3-pointers, part of a 14-for-36 showing for Philadelphia. ... Sixers G Tony Wroten (ankle) missed his third straight game.
