Clippers 111, Warriors 98: Blake Griffin collected 30 points and 15 rebounds as Los Angeles used a big fourth quarter to top host Golden State and run its winning streak to nine straight games.
Danny Granger had his best game since joining the team with a season-high 18 points off the bench and Chris Paul recorded 16 points and 12 assists as the Clippers moved to within two games of Oklahoma City for the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference. Willie Green had 13 points in a reserve role as seven players scored in double figures for Los Angeles.
Klay Thompson scored 26 points and David Lee had 20 as the Warriors had a five-game winning streak come to an end. Stephen Curry recorded 13 points and 11 assists while Andre Iguodala scored 13 points for Golden State.
The Warriors were within 95-91 after Curry found Lee for a bucket with 5:08 left but Collison scored four during a 6-0 burst to push the lead to double digits. Thompson’s 3-pointer with 2:51 to play brought Golden State’s deficit down to 103-96 before Paul hit a pair of free throws and found Matt Barnes for a 3-pointer to help but it away.
Neither team led by more than four points in a tightly contested first half and the Warriors took a 56-54 lead into the break. Curry and Thompson hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put Golden State up 76-69 with over five minutes left in the third quarter before Paul capped a 15-3 run closing the period with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to send the Clippers into the fourth in control 84-79.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Griffin has recorded 11 games of at least 30 points and 10 rebounds and provided the highlight of the night when he followed Granger’s miss with a putback dunk. … Granger has scored in double figures in three of the last four games. … Clippers C DeAndre Jordan collected 10 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.
