Knicks 98, Hawks 92: Chris Copeland scored a season-high 33 points as host New York won its regular-season finale and dropped Atlanta to the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference.

James White added 20 points and Iman Shumpert had 18 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in a game that resembled a Summer League contest with reserves from both sides getting all the playing time.

Mike Scott had 23 points and 14 rebounds and John Jenkins scored 20 for Atlanta, which rested its starters and lost its last two games to fall behind Chicago for the fifth seed. The Hawks will open the playoffs at No. 3 seed Indiana on Sunday.

New York, which led by 12 points in the first quarter, extended a 45-39 halftime edge to 15 points in the third before settling for a 74-68 lead entering the final 12 minutes.

The Hawks chipped away at the deficit and pulled within two points with 9 1/2 minutes remaining, but Shumpert and White combined for 11 points in a 17-2 burst to extend the lead to 95-78 with 4:50 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Knicks PG Pablo Prigioni had eight points, five rebounds and three assists before suffering a sprained right ankle late in the first quarter that knocked him out of the game. ... The Hawks held out Al Horford, Josh Smith, Kyle Korver, Jeff Teague and Devin Harris while the Knicks played without Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin and J.R. Smith. ... New York announced Wednesday that F Rasheed Wallace has decided to retire. Wallace, who came out of retirement to join the team this season, played Monday for the first time since fracturing his foot in December, but he left the court after four minutes due to soreness in the foot. To fill his roster slot, New York signed C Earl Barron, who was in the starting lineup Wednesday and finished with 11 points and matched his career high with 18 rebounds.
