Bulls 101, Heat 97: Luol Deng scored 28 points and Carlos Boozer had 21 points and 17 rebounds as host Chicago halted Miami’s 27-game winning streak.
LeBron James scored 32 points as the Heat lost for the first time since Feb. 1 and fell six games short of matching the record 33-game winning streak set by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. Miami’s streak is second-longest in NBA history.
Chicago led by nine points after Taj Gibson’s basket with 2:18 remaining and held off a Miami charge. The Heat pulled within 94-89 on Ray Allen’s basket with 1:22 left and the Bulls got a putback from Boozer and a driving hoop by Nate Robinson to get the lead back to nine with 30.2 seconds remaining.
Chicago jumped out to a 13-2 lead en route to a 55-46 halftime advantage. Miami took its first lead with 4:30 left in the third when Shane Battier drained a 3-pointer to give the Heat a 59-58 edge. But Chicago led by one entering the final quarter and controlled play most of the stanza.
Jimmy Butler added 17 points and Robinson scored 14 for the Bulls. Chris Bosh scored 21 points and Dwyane Wade added 18 for Miami.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago had a 43-31 rebounding edge. … Wade was back after missing two straight games due to a knee injury. … Bulls C Joakim Noah (foot) missed his third straight game.
