Bulls 113, Warriors 95: Luol Deng scored 23 points and Carlos Boozer added 21 and nine rebounds as visiting Chicago crushed Golden State.
Nate Robinson chipped in 20 points and Joakim Noah recorded 16 and 13 boards for the Bulls, who shot 51.8 percent from the field after failing to reach 40 percent in any of their previous four games. Chicago snapped a five-game road losing streak and moved into a tie with the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 5 spot in the Eastern Conference.
Jarrett Jack had 20 points off the bench and David Lee scored 15 as the Warriors finished up a seven-game homestand with a 4-3 mark. Golden State saw its lead over the Houston Rockets for the No. 6 spot in the Western Conference slip to a half-game.
The Warriors had it tied at 44 after Lee’s layup with 4:09 left in the second quarter before things began slipping away. The Bulls ended the half with a 12-2 burst to take a 56-46 lead into the break and carried that momentum into the third.
Chicago went on a 15-3 run to start the third and Golden State managed one field goal over the first six-plus minutes of the period as the deficit swelled to 23 points. The Bulls ended up outscoring the Warriors 38-17 in the quarter to take a 94-63 lead into the final frame.
Deng’s 3-pointer with 11:11 left pushed the lead to 99-63 and marked the largest home deficit Golden State has endured this season. The Warriors emptied the bench and made it more respectable in the final minutes.
Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who came in averaging a combined 38.8 points, totaled 15 on 5-of-22 shooting for Golden State.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Curry’s streak of 53 games with at least one 3-pointer came to an end. He went 0-of-5 from beyond the arc. … The Bulls were coming off an embarrassing 121-79 loss at Sacramento on Wednesday. … Golden State rookie G Kent Bazemore scored a season-high 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting. … The Warriors lead the league in 3-point percentage but were held to 3-of-14 from beyond the arc by Chicago.
