Marreese Speghts collected 23 points and eight rebounds and Kyrie Irving returned from a three-game absence with 22 points as the Cavaliers suffered their second straight home loss. New York quickly got back into the game in the third quarter, opening with a 15-3 run that knotted it at 64-64. The Cavaliers recovered to take a 74-70 lead into the fourth quarter, but Stoudemire’s dunk with 8:36 left in the game put the Knicks on top and began a 15-9 run that included 3-pointers from Novak, Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Smith, who went 3-for-14 from 3-point range in a loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday, went 1-for-7 from beyond the arc against Cleveland. … The Knicks did not have a starter reach double figures. Felton (eight points, 10 assists) and Chandler (eight points, nine rebounds) were the most productive of the unit. … The Cavaliers were without rookie G Dion Waiters due to an illness.
