Lakers 102, Jazz 84: Dwight Howard had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Kobe Bryant fell one rebound short of a triple-double as host Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak.
Bryant had 14 points, a season-best 14 assists and nine rebounds while making a balanced attack the priority. Metta World Peace scored 17 points, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash added 15 points apiece and the Lakers had a 45-30 rebounding advantage while winning for only the third time in 13 games.
Derrick Favors scored 14 points, Gordon Hayward added 13 and Al Jefferson had 12 as Utah had a four-game winning streak halted.
The Lakers scored the first seven points and were up 15-4 just over four minutes into the contest. Los Angeles led 47-37 at halftime but Utah crept within 67-63 on Randy Foye’s 3-pointer with 1:20 left in the third quarter.
Los Angeles tallied the next nine points to take a 13-point advantage one minute into the fourth quarter. Back-to-back baskets by Bryant boosted the lead to 92-74 with 5:20 left.
